REKLIM Conferences

From the outset, the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM has especially focused on exchange and dialogue with external partners and the general public. Accordingly, in 2010 it began a conference series entitled ’Climate Change in Regions’, which is convened at a different German city every year and brings together partners from inside and outside the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM for a one-day conference on region-specific topics and questions on regional climate change. The most important elements of these events include complementary presentations, contributed both by researchers from the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM and by regional actors. The conferences are jointly prepared and implemented by the Helmholtz Centres participating in the network and the REKLIM Coordinating Office.

The regional conferences on ’Climate Change in Regions’...

...foster direct dialogues between the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM and representatives of the political community, government offices, professional associations, the business sector and interested members of the public;

...offer a platform for exchange on region-specific climate issues;

...reinforce the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM’s image as a valued contact partner for region-specific climate topics.

In addition, at the end of REKLIM’s first funding period (in 2014) and also in 2019, the international REKLIM conferences ‘Our Climate – Our Future’ were hosted in Berlin. The events successfully presented the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM’s broad range of activities and focus areas to an international audience.
