The Structure of REKLIM
In REKLIM the following Topics will be addressed:
- Topic 1: Coupled Modelling of the Regional Earth System
- Topic 2: Sea level Change and Coastal Impacts
- Topic 3: Northern High Latitudes
- Topic 4: Land Surface in the Climate System
- Topic 5: Chemistry-Climate Interactions from Global to Regional Scales
- Topic 6: Extreme Events: Storms, Heavy Precipitation, Floods and Droughts
- Topic 7: Socio-economics and management of regional climate mitigation and adaptation
- Topic 8: Abrupt climate change
- Topic 9: Climate change and air quality
- Topic 10: Risk analysis and risk management
Topics 2 to 6 will investigate specific regions and processes in the Earth system through observations, process modelling and parameterisation. These findings will be transferred to Topic 1, where these processes and parameterisations will be investigated within the coupled regional model system with the aim to develop the next generation model set-up. Topic 7 addresses socio-economic aspects of regional climate change, focusing on risk-cost-analysis (including risk perception), linking of regional policies and the economics of climate adaptation. A cross-cutting task for the whole program is to ensure that the resulting tools and insights meet the demand of knowledge brokers such as the HGF Regional Climate Offices and the Climate Service Centre.
Within the HGF portfolio process in 2011 an expansion of REKLIM by three additional topics (Topic 8, 9 and 10) has been approved.
